Third Meeting of the Committee on Harmonization of Legislations and Technical Procedures
On Monday, December 16, 2024, the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining held the third meeting of the Committee on Harmonization of Legislations and Technical Procedures via videoconference, under the chairmanship of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the following Arab countries: the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Tunisia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, the State of Palestine, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Republic of Yemen.
The session focused on the harmonization of legislations and technical procedures. It included a presentation of the committee’s progress report, a review of the membership status of member states, and a follow-up on decisions adopted during the second meeting. The meeting also featured reports on the level of commitment by member states to implement Arab directives, as well as the review of a unified questionnaire aimed at assessing the alignment of national technical legislations and approving appropriate legal frameworks.
Additionally, the committee discussed updates to the directives related to gas meters, reviewed technical terminology, and explored the committee’s strategic roadmap and future needs. Discussions also addressed the development of training programs to enhance competencies in line with the goals and plans of the Arab Metrology Initiative
