The Executive Committee for Scientific and Industrial Metrology is one of the committees under the General Assembly of the Arab Metrology Initiative (ARAMET). The committee is responsible for overseeing and coordinating metrology activities related to scientific and industrial measurements in Arab countries.The committee’s duties include supporting the development of technical capabilities in laboratories, enhancing measurement traceability, and coordinating interlaboratory comparisons. It also contributes to the preparation of work plans and joint projects aimed at harmonizing practices and achieving regional and international recognition of measurement results.
The committee is composed of representatives from the national metrology institutions of the member states and operates through a participatory approach aimed at knowledge transfer, experience sharing, and promoting integration within the scientific and industrial metrology systems across the Arab region

The Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization, and Mining (AIDSMO) held the fifth meeting of the Executive Committee for Scientific and Industrial Metrology of the Arab Metrology Initiative (ARAMET) on January 21, 2025, via videoconference, chaired by Egypt.
Representatives from Jordan, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Palestine attended. The meeting reviewed progress on recommendations from the previous session, discussed reports from technical committees, and addressed the 2024–2028 Work Plan focused on capacity building, knowledge sharing, awareness, measurement enhancement, and partnerships. It also reviewed outcomes and requirements related to the Joint Committee of Regional Metrology Organizations and the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (JCRB) and ARAMET’s progress toward international recognition.

Attended by representatives from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Palestine, Egypt, and technical committee chairs, the meeting reviewed progress on previous recommendations and discussed the 2024–2028 Work Plan, focusing on capacity building, knowledge exchange, awareness, measurement enhancement, quality systems, and international participation.
Key outcomes included adopting the executive plan, approving the technical committee evaluation guide, and agreeing to hold workshops and intercomparison programs.
