Establishment

Based on the decision of the Ministerial Council of the Organization No. (512) (Twentieth Session – Damascus, 14–18/06/2008), which stated the following:

The Council reviewed the report on the workshop on updating the Arab Standardization Strategy held in Riyadh (25–26/03/2008) and the report of the meeting on updating the strategy held in Rabat (19–20/04/2008), which discussed the draft strategy prepared by the Organization, and decided the following:

• → Adoption of the Arab Standardization Strategy (2009–2013).
  → Expressing thanks to the Standards and Metrology Center of the Organization and the Arab bodies that prepared the main pillars for drafting the strategy.
  → The countries that prepared the main pillars of the strategy shall develop the executive programs for these pillars (in coordination with the concerned entities in their countries) and send them to the Organization to be circulated to the Arab countries as soon as possible.

Since the Arab Standardization Strategy includes a pillar on metrology that stipulates the establishment of the “Advisory Committee for Metrology” within the framework of the Organization,

And in implementation of the above decision, and based on the functions and powers of the Organization and its administrative and financial regulations—particularly the objectives and functions of the Standards and Metrology Center as defined in the Agreement establishing the Organization and the internal regulations of the General Secretariat—this regulation defines the composition, functions, powers, and meetings of the Committee.
